Jazz Bass

Thanks to Hannu from Finland, we can see an example of a Stagg bass guitar dating to 1972 (rather modified, unfortunately). Other models in original shape are listed below...

It is not in original conditions, since it lost its original pickguard and one of thew two pickup covers (it was also painted all black with headskulls and bones, now restored to original sunburst)

The owner made a new pickguard, and put both coils and magnets in one pickup-cover, so that it became an humbucker (sort of).

[Quote] "Its original pickguard seems like jazzbass, and pickups were like Höfner units. They were in bridge and neck positions. I think it was not a jazzbass-copy, more like Framus- or Höfner-copy. It is about 7/8 size of jazzbass, and has quite good playability because it has 31,5 inch scale (more common with Framus) and lacquered neck. And this "humbucker" gives it very deep and loud tone".

Another interesting remark about the price. According to Hannu, it was not a very cheap guitar at that time, since it costed about twice than Guyatone and 3/4 of the price of an Ibanez strato-copy.

Then we get some pictures of a model in the original conditions (from Ebay), featuring maple neck and fingerboard.

Another model in a beautiful natural finish.
